The Wolf

Earlier this week, Natalie and I decided to take a trip to Asheboro Park and see if we could get some shots for our composite assignment. I also decided to rent the fish eye lens and give them a try. I always used the fish eye effect when I used my GoPro but I have never tried using a fish eye lens with my digital camera. We decided to take the one and only Shiloh along with the trip. Although I didn’t get the shots I wanted for my composite, I did end up getting some pretty decent pictures of Shiloh. This is my favorite shot out of all the ones I took using the lens.

Frontier Whiskey

For us commercial students, this week was an extremely busy week. With internships starting next week, this week mainly focused on finishing up the portfolio and getting prepared for internship. For my last pic of my portfolio, I wanted to try and shoot another product in the studio. Earlier this semester, I tried photographing a bottle of Bulleit Frontier Whiskey. It didn’t go well last time, so this week I thought I’d try and take another shot at it. I think it turned out much better than my last attempt and I ended up using this pic in my final portfolio. I know I could’ve made it a lot better, but I think it turned out alright.

Brandy

This week in the studio, me and Daniel decided to practice photographing some liquor bottles. Drinks and beverages has been the theme for my portfolio and I have been wanting to practice with photographing bottles. So this week, me and Daniel stopped by the ABC store and went scouting for some clean looking bottles. I decided to go with this cheap but classy bottle of Brandy for my photo shoot. For the smoke, we used Daniel’s smoke machine and it really made the picture pop more. I am really happy with how the picture turned out and I also plan on using it for my portfolio.

Cheers

Last week for my commercial class, I made some lifestyle vintage portraits involving a coke bottle. Dhanraj really liked them and he said I should try shooting these type of pictures again. So for my next idea, I decided to use a Cheerwine bottle. Dhanraj also said he wanted me to use a different model so I decided to use my sister . With these pics, I wanted to go for a 90’s lifestyle theme. I also used the same color preset that I used for the Coke pictures. I think they turned out pretty decent and I plan on using these pictures for my portfolio.

Growing Gurl

Since I started using WordPress, a few of my post have been about my German Shepherd named Tulip (a Tulip is a flower if you didn’t know). My last post involving her was about trying to teach her how to drive. Quick update: It did not work and we’re still not rich. But its been awhile since I have made a post about her so I thought “hey, why not make a update post on how much she has grown”. To make a long story short: she got big. Here’s a picture of her that I took this week. She decided to hit me with a pose and a smile, which created this nice picture.

Share a coke

Last week for my commercial class, I bombed on our portrait assignment. So this week for my portfolio, I decided to try something different. I wanted create a picture that involves people and a product. I decided to go with Coke as my product because Coke is the best. Natalie was my model and I think she did a splendid job. I also wanted to give the pictures a vintage look just like the old coke advertisements so I created my own preset on Lightroom (which I plan on using for future pictures as well). Dhanraj really liked how my pictures turned out and he told me to continue doing these type of pictures. The next plan is to use a Cheerwine and I hope I can get good results.

Abstract Wine

This week was a really busy week for my commercial class. I really wanted to try something different for my portfolio. Lately, I have really taken an interest in abstract photography. I have also been looking up ideas for abstract photography that I could try in the studio (shout out to Pinterest). I found some ideas that involved using wine glasses so I thought I would try it as well. These are my two favorite shots taken earlier this week (and also my first attempt at this idea). Both were shot in the studio and I am happy with how they turned out. I also want to experiment more with the wine glasses this week.

Return to Blewett Falls

So last week I decided to go back to my favorite sunset spot to take photographs. I have not been in quite some time because of school and I figured a trip there would be nice. I was accompanied by Natalie and my sister Raine. Natalie also took her camera but we all know I took the better pictures *dabs*. Anyway, we took quite a few pictures that afternoon, such as portraits and landscapes. These are my favorite shots taken as seen below.

Christmas Lights

Lately, me and Natalie have been coming up with different ideas and ways to shoot portraits. Earlier this week, we had come up with the idea of shooting portraits using Christmas lights as a prop. She already had some lights so we decided to use those. We took some shots with my camera and this was the best one. In Photoshop, I made a few adjustments to the exposure and the highlights/shadows. I also wanted to add more color to the picture so I mainly used the Calibration slides in camera RAW to do so. I really like how the final picture turned out, and I really want to try this again but with a different lens.

Dynamic Duo

For our first commercial assignment, we had to shoot something related to dairy. So I decided to go with the classic cookies and milk combination for my shoot. The splash effect of the milk was actually the last thing we shot. Dhanraj said it would be difficult to get the splash effect using the Broncolor lights; we got the shot on the first attempt (shout out to Rafe for the perfect timing). I also made two versions of the picture. One with the Oreo showing in the glass and one without. At first, I could not decide which one looked the best, but the one without the cookie is starting to become my favorite.
